60th Anniversary


2007 marks the 60th anniversary of Tutbury Scouts, along with 100 years of scouting in England and Wales.


On Sat 9 June 07, Tutbury Scouts will be celebrating their 60th anniversary with a Street Party in Cornmill Lane.

Tutbury Arts Group is....

looking to support the Scouts 60th Anniversary celebrations, in June, with a display of memorabilia and old photo’s from the 1940’s and intervening years.

Frank Toon, who was an Engineer with the Rural District Council, has very kindly forwarded a selection of photo’s from his days here in Tutbury with the RDC.

If frank’s photos jog any memories, or if you have any memorabilia which you could loan out, the arts group would love to here from you. In the first instance please contact webmaster@tutbury.org

School Report

Richard Wakefield School is very pleased to have Mr Williams return to them. Mrs Lockley, who has been acting head, thanks everyone for their support.

The newly elected community governor is Mrs S Hill.

The PTA would like to thank all parents and sponsors for their support in making this years calendar such a huge success. It made a profit of £632. Congratulations to Glenys Harlow who was awarded £200 through the Sainsbury’s Local Hero Scheme for her work with production of the calendar.

The PTA proudly announced a further profit of £522 from the February quiz night.

A new project is the production of a recipe book, it is hoped there will be some financial support from local firms which would like to raise awareness of their business.

The Easter Egg hunt, back in March, raised a further £139.50 for school funds.

Also in March, Mrs Monsal completed a Half Marathon Walk on the Monsal Trail. She achieved her sponsor money target of £500 which was subsequently match funded by Halifax PLC.
