Tree Planting

Each year the Civic Society plants a number of young trees at locations around Tutbury, to either brighten an area or replace trees lost to disease or development

Above we can see a tree planting ceremony from February 1993 at the Ferrers Avenue bungalows.

Jubilee Wood commemorative plaque

A plaque was unveiled to commemorate the planting of Tutbury’s Jubilee Wood. The plaque was unveiled 20 June 2002.

Pictured above are (left to right) Christine Ford and Cheryl Tunnicliffe, (Civic Society Chair at the time) at the ceremony.

The large rock was donated by British Gypsum

The wood was the idea of professional forester and arboriculturalist - David Ford, who died the night before planting took place, back in 1999.

Planting was carried out by children from the village school, who together with friends and relatives, created the wood to mark the Queens Golden Jubilee and 600 years of the link between Tutbury and the Duchy of Lancaster.
