Tutbury Band’s Highland Christmas Concert is no longer just a pipe dream…
(published 3 December 07)

Following on from their recent sell out concerts in the Scottish Highland town of Strathpeffer, Tutbury Band did a wee jig of delight when they discovered that Ashbourne Pipe Band would be able to join them for their annual Christmas Concert, this year entitled:

A Highland Christmas.

The concert will take place at Burton Town Hall 7pm 16th December.

The concert will feature lots of Christmas favourites from the fabulous Tutbury Band; some of which will have a distinct Scottish flavour. The amazing Ashbourne Pipe Band is preparing to play traditional Scottish favourites during the interval when the audience will be invited to enjoy some Scottish Shortbread and maybe a wee dram or two! The two bands will be jointly performing a specially arranged piece of music entitled Highland Cathedral for a fantastic festive finale.

Musical Director Kevin Orton commented, “We had a tremendous time performing in the Highlands of Scotland and we are delighted that Ashbourne Pipe Band are able to join us at Burton Town Hall. We hope to recreate the atmosphere which resulted in standing ovations from the full house audiences in Scotland”.

Tickets for the concert (which are priced at £6 Adults, £4 pensioners and £2 children) can be obtained from Burton Town Hall or by contacting Barbara Harvey on 01283 812091.

Tutbury Band is a voluntarily run community wind band with over 150 members (with an age range of 8 to 80), from East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire.
