U3A is a self-help organisation for people no longer in full-time employment providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment.

U3A stands for University of the 3rd Age.

The Third Age refers to the period of time after the First Age of childhood dependency and the Second Age of full time employment and parental responsibility.

Anyone can join, there are no age limits. No qualifications are necessary, and none are given.

U3A is a self-funded and self-managed organisation providing a full range of activities for men and women at minimal cost. They draw upon the knowledge, experience and skills of their members to organise interest groups in accordance with the wishes of their membership.

Between them the U3As offer over 300 subjects in diverse fields such as: art, music, history, walking, poetry, gardening, theatre & outings, philosophy, crafts, bowls, archaeology, holidays, computing, creative writing and bridge.

We currently have over 300 members with 32 interest groups covering a wide range of of subjects.

New members are always welcome.
