Tutbury Remembrance Book
The second edition of Tutbury Book of Remembrance is now available.
The book covers research on the first 50 from Tutbury who fell in the 1914 - 18 War.
The book can be read at

The 134 page book will be distributed free to relatives of the fallen, Churches, Museums and Schools in the Tutbury Area.
Thanks go out to relatives of the fallen and fellow researches who have all helped in the production of this book. Thank you also to Alvaston Press for producing the book of remembrance in a timely fashion.
The book can be made available to all others at a cost of £5-00. This price covers printing costs.

Ever felt you’re getting poorer? - read on
The left of centre think tank, resource foundation, has recently produced a report looking into low pay in modern day Britain.
The report looks at trends from 1975 to 2012, and looks at the effect of the financial crisis over the last five years.
There is some evidence to suggest that any historical links between productivity and wage rates are now dis-located. The report questions whether this is a short term effect of the financial crisis or whether there are structural changes occuring in the British Economy, and suggests that the recovery may reinforce these effects.

Local man publishes Autobiography
Local man, Robert Nicklin, has recently had his autobiography published. The book is all about Robert’s time as a sailor during the second world war, and is titled ”From Civilian to Sailor”. In the book, Robert describes what life was like in Tutbury at that time, and details the ships he served on. Robert’s book is published by Authorhouse and is available from Amazon for £12-95 GBP.

Castle Street Allotments available |

A number of recently vacated allotments are currently available on the Castle Street site. This is due to some regulars relocating away from Tutbury and others reducing the number of plots they occupy. The allotments are located within Tutbury’s conservation area. Business Crime Matters roll out from January 2015
A new service which offers free expert support and guidance to businesses who are victims of crime goes live from Monday 26 January 2015. Deputy Police & Crime Commissioner, Sue Arnold will head up the service.
Business Crime Advisors will be available to all local firms across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent whether they report the crime or not. Staffordshire Police - Public Enquiry Desks reduced hours from October 2015
As part of the drive to prioritise budget towards frontline policing, changes are going to be made to the opening hours of some of Staffordshire Police’s public enquiry desks.
A 12-month estates review carried out jointly by Staffordshire’s PCC and the Police Service has identified where buildings are underused, co-location with other services is appropriate and where new investment in buildings is needed.

The review found that the number of people using traditional police stations has reduced significantly in recent years with some enquiry desks seeing fewer than two visitors a day.

Burton Road Security Fence
Church Yard Wreath Holders
The security fence on the Burton Road development which current prevents pedestrians from walking from one end of the site to the other is due to be dismantled later this month. This will enable all pedestrians to walk from the eastern end of the development into the village without having to cross the busy A511. Read more

Are you interested in bell ringing?
The tower captain is looking for new or past ringers to join their small group. Youngsters from the age of 9 can start training. Bell ringers with previous experience are especially welcome to join. Practice night is Thursday evening at 7:30 PM. In the first instance email webmaster@tutbury.org
War Memorial Repairs
Repair work began on Tutbury’s War Memorial on 10 August, and is expected to be completed in the Autumn. The cost for this stage of the work is £13,110-00. Funding has has been provided by The War Memorials Trust, ESBC and The J & O Lloyd trust. Photos of the work can be viewed at www.twmpc.org.uk
