Open Gardens 2014 - Update
The planning Meeting, held recently, reached agreement on the opening times for this year’s event.
Opening times will be 12:00 noon till 6:00 PM on Saturday 28 June and Sunday 29 June 2014.
Admission, will remain the same as last year - £3-00 per adult for the weekend. Accompanied children (under 16 years) free.

This year a “garden buddies” scheme will operate which will pair off new open gardeners with more experienced hands.
As part of St Mary’s 925th anniversary celebrations, a flower festival will be held in church to coincide with the open gardens weekend. St Mary’s Church is a beneficiary from the funds raised during the open gardens event.

It’s anticipated that around twenty gardens will open for the weekend.

Tutbury Open Gardens 2017
We are looking for some more gardens to open this year as some from last year are not available to open this year. If you are interested, I would be most grateful if you could let me know.
Obviously without gardens opening, there would be no “Open Gardens”. It is not a competition and doesn’t matter how large or small your garden is – people are genuinely interested in all gardens – manicured, natural, wildlife friendly, containers, etc, etc … The timing will be the same as last year, 12 noon to 6 PM
We will again have the Courtsey Bus both days, which will help with transporting visitors around the village.

We will also hope to have the advertisers and sponsors again and the bee keepers have agreed to attend, and will be situated in Sue and Brian Adams’s garden in High Street. We do have one garden opening in the new estate – and a few more would be wonderful!
The church is fund-raising specifically for the conservation of the alabaster arch at the West Door, which is desperately in need of attention as alabaster is very soft and is disintegrating – and all funds raised from Open Gardens will go towards this fund, as they have for several years, but now it is urgent. Hopefully the work will be carried out quite soon, before it deteriorates any further.

We will be holding an Open Gardens meeting in a month or so and, if you are interesting in opening either for one or both days, please do let me know and I hope that you will be able to join us at the meeting.

There will be a Plant Sale in the Village Hall on Saturday 29th April from 2 – 4 PM and if you have any spare plants which you would like to donate, they would be much appreciated. You will be able to take items down to the hall from 1 PM or go along from 2 – 4 PM to have a look and purchase!

Tutbury Open Gardens Expansion
Tutbury Open Gardens group is inviting other volunteer groups in the village to work with us to expand the open gardens weekend into a larger, village festival event on the weekend of 27th and 28th June, 2015.
At our committee meeting, we discussed the idea of including the Open Gardens as part of a pilot Tutbury Festival weekend, rather than as an event on its own.

One suggestion was for family-focused activities around the village on the Saturday - such as a craft fair and "making" activities, with proceeds shared with participating groups.
A successful pilot in 2015 could lead the way to making the last weekend in June an annual Tutbury Summer Festival, including Open Gardens.
